Low Tox Products I’m Loving

Low tox products

For a while now I’ve been making more of an effort to go low tox.

Not completely toxic free (even the experts say it’s impossible to go completely toxic free) but I’ve been experimenting and have found some low tox products I’m loving and will never go back to their toxic counterparts. So I wanted to share my top 6 faves because I think you’ll love them too!

1.  Moogoo Shampoo & Conditioner

At first I found this a bit tricky.. it doesn’t lather like traditional shampoo but after a few washes you get used to it and its really lovely. I’ve been using it on myself and the kids and the pump bottle is really handy. My friend Krissy recently posted about this brand too.

2. GoTo Lips

I used to be a Lucas paw paw fan until I found out what’s in it and sought out alternates quick smart. I have several tubes of GoTo lips, one in each handbag, in my car and my laptop bag and I apply it all day everyday. Notable mention to Sawava organic paw paw ointment

3. Tarte Maracuja Oil

I discovered this brand in Sephora in Hawaii and thank the beauty gods I can now purchase it here in Australia, just around the corner from my office. Dangerous!

Tarte state on their website that their products are always formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulphate, gluten.  I pop this on at night after cleansing and it feels divine!

4. Per-fekt Lip colour

The first thing that got me about this was that it was a universal colour, then when I saw it was free of synthetic fragrances, dyes, wax, talc, mineral oils and parabens, I couldn’t get to the counter quick enough. I’m really not a lipstick fan but this glides on beautifully and feels lovely.

5.  Custom Tan Travel Tan

Finally a gradual moisturising tan that smells amazing, applies beautifully, is easy to travel with AND contains sunscreen. You will love this new product from Custom Tan.

6. Weleda Salt Toothpaste^

This takes a while to get used to but leaves you feeling like you’ve just been to the Dentist, it’s that good. It has a salty texture and tastes kinda salty and minty. It’s a little runny in consistency but you get used to it pretty quickly. It’s just that it doesn’t froth like normal toothpaste. I also bought the tongue cleaner which sounds gross, but oh my… it leaves your mouth feeling so clean and fresh! Its quite addictive actually.

Next on my list is to find a low tox washing powder and deodrant. A friend recommended Moogoo Deodorant so I’ll give that a try next but let me know in the comments if you have any other suggestions.

  1. Way out of my depth with beauty products, ha! But I do love that post-dentist feeling, so I am tracking that toothpaste down right now. Am also calling dentist to make an appointment. Thanks for the reminder! #teamIBOT

    1. Oh yes… dentist has been on my list for about 6 months Em. I need to make an appt too before the end of the year! Xx

  2. Oohh, this is interesting. I went through a phase about 10 years ago, going low and no-tox and there was nothing like the selection of products there are now. There were literally only a handful of companies doing this. Nice to see that many more are catering to the market now.

  3. I’m definitely checking out the lip colour – I love something that’s universal because I’m way too lazy to use more than one lipstick! Of course, I’m loving my Jamberry nail wraps because they’re five free, gluten free and vegan too! Plus they look so darn pretty!

    1. Do you know I pressed publish and immediately thought to myself OMG I forgot to include Jamberry! I totally meant to, but I think they probably deserve a post of their own ;) xx
