Mindful in May

The events of last weeks storm and the sadness of the Nepal earthquake and the Bali executions, have left me with an incredibly heavy heart. And I know so many of you feel the same.

I feel like the world is telling us to all slow down a little, be more present and be grateful for all that we have.

So when I saw an invitation from my blogging friend Ellen to join her in the Mindful In May initiative, I couldn’t sign up quick enough.

Mindful in May is a global initiative. It’s about creating a habit of mindfulness. 10 minutes of meditation a day for 31 days. You Learn to meditate with guidance from experts in the field while raising funds for clean water projects.

Although I’ve practiced meditation for a while via my yoga practice, it’s something I’ve always struggled with. I just can’t seem to stop my mind wondering forward, thinking of my to-do list, the grocery shopping list and what time I need to be where.

I wanted to take part in Mindful in May last year, however I just missed the registration boat. But I’m in this year and the good news is, there’s still one day to register!

Come and join our team or if you can, give up your morning coffee money and make a donation to help us reach our target. You will be helping to raise funds for clean water projects around the world!

l’ll be blogging my way through the month of mindfulness to keep me inspired and accountable and can’t wait to set up my little meditation space.

Not sure you can commit to a whole month of meditation but want to explore it further? A meditation app is a great place to start.  Check out this list from A Quirky Bird to get you started. My fave is Simply Being.

Do you meditate? Any hot tips? What benefits do you experience?

The doing part really is the hardest bit, but when you think about it… its only 10 mins a day, so its quite do-able. I’m hooked already and its only been 3 days so far! xx

    1. It can be challenging, especially when your kids or dog interrupt you which has happened numerous times! but so worth it even if you can just squeeze in 5-10 mins! You will have to join us next year lovely! Xx
