The Ultimate Rabbit Hole #43

the ultimate rabbit hole

Hello Hello,

How is November treating everyone so far? Or as I like to call it, Jacaranda Month. Aren’t they just the prettiest trees ever. At least until that pretty purple carpet rots and you slip over in your driveway because of all this RAIN! But… pretty!

I’ve written this week off with the dreaded sickness, yet again. I went down hard and quickly last Sunday with the same kind of symptoms I had back in August so the doc thought it may be Glandular Fever! Eek… so I freaked out for 3 days until I got the blood test results… and I had Strep throat. Bloody painful. Have you ever had it? I swear it was more painful than when I got my tonsils out. Anyway… on the mend now thanks to the antibiotics doing their job and here’s what I’ve discovered this week…

First up, Mrs Woog on perfection and this truth bomb, light bulb moment from an event she went to with Jane Caro as guest speaker.

I love this round up of the best celebrity baby gender reveals.

As a mostly introvert, these 23 signs you’re secretly an introvert had me nodding along in agreement.

I’ve ticked a couple of these off my bucket list, but dreaming about so many more!

And this was my favourite read of the week. Caitlin Moran’s Posthumous Advice for Her Daughter. Loved this line “… always remember that, nine times out of ten, you probably aren’t having a full-on nervous breakdown – you just need a cup of tea and a biscuit. You’d be amazed how easily and repeatedly you can confuse the two. Get a big biscuit tin.”

Did you do a fancy pants baby gender reveal? Are you an introvert?

  1. We didn’t find out the sex of either of our girls. However, for our second daighter we had a little party to announce the pregnancy. Hubby had just completed dry July (raising money for people living with cancer) and had everyone over for a BBQ to celebrate. I baked a cake shaped like a beer bottle and made a label with the ultrasound pic and saying “Emery brew – aged 13 weeks”. thanks for the link up! Hope you go from strength to strength and that the rest of summer is sickness free.

    1. Oh really! That make me feel better (not that you had strep throat) but that its not just me that thought it was the most painful thing!
Thankfully the antibiotics have done their job and I’m looking forward to a better week ahead. Thanks for popping by! xx

  2. I heart Jacarandas, sooo pretty, they’re prob my favorite tree. We didn’t do a big reveal for any of our boys. We kept the gender of our third son a secret from everyone til he was born & our 1st son we got the sonographer to write it in an envelope & we didn’t look at it ourselves until weeks later when we decided we wanted to know & then just sent a txt to our family saying team blue.

    1. Aww, that’s awesome! We didn’t find out with either of ours but I love hearing of some of the ways that others have found out & revealed their baby’s sex. Hope you have a fab week lovely xx

  3. I think there’s a lot of introverts in the blogging world. We hide behind our computer screens and reach out from a safe distance haha even after years of working in high security prisons as a psych, I’m still introverted. Working at home is so much more my style ;)

  4. There have been some nasty bugs going around this year. In our family we have felt like we have been ill since winter began and it is only in the last couple of weeks are we all starting to feel better. Good luck with your recovery.

  5. Loving the purple around here too! Marks almost end of year. No such thing as knowing sex of our kids.. Born in 1971 & 79! Hope you are feeling better soon. So awful to be unwell for quite some time. Take care. Denyse

    1. Thank you Denyse! I’m doing so much better and looking forward to rocking this week.
Isnt it amazing how far technology has come with ultrasound, etc since the early 70’s! Have a fabulous week ahead xx

  6. Hope you’re feeling better soon Shannon, so many nasty bugs around at the moment! We’re loving the Jacarandas too, we have a big one overhanging our backyard and the kids love to make ‘purple angels’ in the fallen petals. But yes, it won’t be long before it’s a gloopy, rotten mess!! Noice ;)

    1. Oh how pretty! Purple angels, love it! Enjoy it before it turns to purple mush! And thanks for the well wishes, I’m feeling so much better! xx

  7. Oh, poor you! I hope you feel better soon! Love Mrs W’s post, I too had the good fortune to hear Jane Caro speak recently and I have you to thank for that! Seeing all those amazing places has made my feet decidedly itchy – hope you had a beautiful weekend! x

    1. I am sooo much better now Sammie… amazing feeling coming out of that sickness fog and feeling normal again. My bucket list is overflowing after seeing that post! Happy week ahead! xx

    1. Thanks lovely, I’m feeling so much better! Great to be up and about again to see the purple jacaranda carpets everywhere! Enjoy! xx
