The Ultimate Rabbit Hole #52

the ultimate rabbit hole

Hello All,

I hope your short week has been fab. I don’t know about you but I’ve been so confused this week. Wednesday felt like Monday and the first day of school was a Thursday which was just weird. But I’m very happy to see the weekend again that’s for sure!

Can you believe its the end of Jan already?! One month down, only 11 to go!

As much as I loved having some precious time with Miss 6, thank goodness school is back! I think I can hear the collective sigh of relief from all you school parents!

I loved the whole back to school thing as a kid but I think I love it even more as a mum. New pencils, new books, new shoes, new year of possibilities. Maybe I just like new things?! Anyway, let’s jump right into some lovely back-to-school themed links…

First up, it’s hard to believe my little lady started school this time last year. I just cannot believe it was one whole year ago I shed those first day tears and penned this post… There She Goes.

For all you first time school parents, Baby Mac has you sorted with the most amazing first time school parent advice. I wish I had read this at this time last year. My only additional tip for you first time school parents… take tissues!

Back to school means weeks and weeks of preparing lunch boxes {which I secretly kinda like}. So I’ve bookmarked these 40 deliciously awesome lunch box ideas from Chantelle at Fat Mum Slim!

I love everything Krissy from Pretty Wee Things posts and these 10 healthy back to school lunch box ideas  are no exception.

I’m a little obsessed with lunch boxes, so I read every word of the great lunchbox review from Kylie at Kidgredients with interest. It seems the humble lunchbox is so much more technical than when we were in school. FYI… I’m once again going with the Yumbox Panini. We will also be using the Fridge to go for the second year.

The Freezer really is a school parent’s best friend so these Easy Freezer Friendly Lunchbox Ideas from Lauren at Create Bake Make are another one to add to your bookmark list!

And finally, there are so many fab ways to capture that first day. We use the kids blackboard easel, which doubles as a good way to see their growth year on year. This collection of first day of school printables from The Organised Housewife is awesome too!

How was your January? Are you obsessed with lunchboxes too? How do you capture your kids first day of school?

  1. I have my oldest boy starting school on his birthday in June! In NZ they start on their actual 5th birthday. As an aside, we have the Goodbyn Hero lunch box and they are fab! Have a great weekend and thanks for hosting :)

    1. starting on their actual birthday is such a good idea. Our classes vary in age up to 18 months, its crazy! Hope your wk end was fab too lovely. xx

  2. My baby starts preschool next week & after being home with me for the better part of 4 &1/2 years I think I’ll definitely need a box of tissues in hand. I love some of those printables (I desperately want/need a printer) & yes even though he’s only going 2 days a week, I’ve been busy collecting lots of lunch box ideas & making & baking up a storm :)

  3. Our little guy started kindy this week and there were tears – just from me though! I hate to think what I’m going to be like next year! Thanks for including my post in your round up, have great weekend and thanks for hosting x

    1. Bento is the way to go… not sure how I got through school with a whizz bang bento lunch box! I’d be stealing it from the hubby stat!
Hope your wk end was fab! xx
